Wine connoisseurs, movie junkies and word game enthusiasts once again host the Tampa Theater annual Winefest fundraiser, as next year’s “The Grapest Showman” returns to downtown Tampa on March 25 and 26.

On Friday, March 25, the Tampa Theater will welcome 275 patrons to its stage – expanded for this event – in an elegant wine pairing, including a multi-course dinner hosted by Mise en Place chef Marty Blitz.

The Saturday night event is a two-tier tasting at the historic theater, with a variety of wines to choose from and light snacks provided by participating Tampa restaurants. A few restaurants with their best small plates during Saturday’s wine tasting are The C House, Cru Cellars, Ella’s Americana, Folk Art Cafe, District Tavern, GenX Tavern, and Oxford Exchange.

Tickets for Friday start at $ 300 per person or $ 595 for a pair, while the Saturday event costs between $ 65 and $ 100, depending on the level of tasting you prefer. Members of the Tampa Theater can purchase their tickets now, but the general public can start purchasing them on December 17th at tampatheatre.org.

Both evenings will also feature auctions where people can bid on everything from luxury vacations and gift cards to some of Tampa Bay’s most popular restaurants.

To celebrate its long-awaited return, the Tampa Theater has added another event to its upcoming Winefest – a family screening of the 2017 film “The Greatest Showman”. Tickets for the February 18 screening are $ 13 for the general public and $ 10. for members.

The last Winefest took place on February 22, 2020 with the theme “Cabbyshack”, just a few weeks before the COVID-19 lockdown. Previous themes include puns like “Napoleon Wineamite”, “Monty Python and the Holy Grape” and “The Planet of Grapes”.

At Winefest 2022, the 19th time the Tampa Theater has held this themed fundraiser, guests are encouraged to dress up in their best ‘Showman’ inspired costumes, so be sure to dust off your top hat.
